Your Good Vibe Glow Begins on Your Plate: Radiance Starts Inside

Oh no—not another “eat your kale” blog.
I get it. You’ve seen a million of these too.🤣🤣

But hang on

PLEASE let me stand on this soapbox for a second- it's for your benefit....because after dropping 60 pounds and keeping it off for over a year, I’ve earned the mic. What I’ve learned in that time isn't just about weight—it's about everything, from energy to aging to what shows up on your face when you eat garbage food.

Let’s be real: as we age, our bodies change. It’s not just metabolism slowing down—it’s chemistry. And I’ve learned that mine requires very specific fuel to run at full power. That doesn’t mean I never indulge (yes, I still crush fries occasionally), but what’s different now is the amount, the frequency, and identifying how my body immediately reacts when I stray.

I committed to six straight months of eating clean—whole foods, minimal ingredients, mostly organic when the budget allowed—and after 12 months? I honestly felt like a different person: a person with a clearer mind. Stronger energy. More stable moods. And glowing skin.

Here’s where it gets wild.

When I eat processed food—even a small amount—my body lets me know. Fatigue. Bloat. And every single time, my skin joins the protest. Breakouts, dullness, inflammation. No mystery there.

Why? Here’s the science:

  • Inflammatory foods = inflammatory skin.👎
Ultra-processed foods are loaded with added sugars, trans fats, preservatives, and artificial ingredients. These trigger chronic inflammation, which can manifest as acne, rosacea, dullness, or even accelerated aging. (Reference:National Library of medicine)

  • Refined sugars spike insulin = oilier skin + breakouts.👎
High glycemic index foods increase sebum (oil) production, leading to clogged pores. Multiple studies link sugar and processed carbs directly to acne. (Reference: American Academy of Dermatology)

  • Your gut and your glow are besties.👍
70% of your immune system lives in your gut. A compromised gut = poor nutrient absorption and systemic inflammation, which shows up on your skin. Think of your gut as the glowing control center.

Here's my not-so-radical theory:

If our food wasn’t so processed, our hospitals wouldn’t be so full.
It frustrates me to no end that the U.S. allows so many chemicals and additives in our food that are banned in other countries.

We’re being set up to fail—

hooked on convenience,

drained by chronic illness

and fed a lie that eating real food is too hard.

Well, here’s the truth: when you fuel yourself right, everything changes.

Look, I will be the FIRST to say I’m not perfect. Today, as I’m writing this, I broke down and ate some greasy takeout—and guess what? In literally an HOUR after eating that, I got myself a Zit...Grrrrrr  Right on cue. And it’s not just a skin thing—it’s a whole-body response. I feel it in my energy, my mood, my gut. One day off-track derails me. That’s how powerful real food is.

So no, this isn’t a lecture.
It’s just a message from someone who’s lived it:

✨ Food is fuel.
✨ Food is medicine.
✨ And food is skincare, too.

Feed your body what it’s actually asking for—and you’ll start glowing in ways beyond. Add a gorgeous all-natural face oil or tallow - and what a damn fine good vibe glow.

'til next time,
xo
